Clearance Requirements for TEC Models
Ensure the following clearance distances around the cabinet:
-
TEC-460:
- Front: 810 mm
- Back: 300 mm
- Sides: 300 mm
-
-
TEC-850:
- Front: 650 mm
- Back: 300 mm
- Sides: 300 mm
Maintain these clearances for proper ventilation and safe operation.
When installing multiple cabinets, ensure they are positioned so that air from the ventilation grill of one cabinet is not directly drawn into the ventilation grill of the adjacent cabinet. This setup prevents heat transfer between units, which can impact performance. It's recommended to have at least 300mm between each cabinet.
If adequate spacing cannot be achieved, Thermoline can supply air deflectors to redirect hot air away from neighbouring cabinets.
Please see the Air Deflectors installation guide for more information.
Castors
The Envirotherm cabinets are equipped with lockable castors to prevent cabinet movement.
- Ensure the Envirotherm cabinet is placed on an even at surface. Uneven surfaces can cause issues within the cabinet. Uneven surfaces can cause the cabinet to fall over or roll away with unlocked castors.
- Castors can be fixed in place by pushing down on the brake lever. Ensure the castors are locked to prevent unwanted movement from the cabinet.
- Ensure when placing the Envirotherm cabinet into place that the castors can be accessed so they can be locked and unlocked. Please contact your supplier or Thermoline should there be any castor damage.
Shelves
All Envirotherm cabinets comes equipped with shelves used for holding items while the cabinet is in operation. The shelves can be adjusted to different heights to accommodate different size items.
To adjust the shelf clips you must:
- Hook the top of the clip into the slot seen below.
- Pinch and squeeze the base of the clip
- Push base of clip into slot and release.
- To remove, repeat process.
SAFETY NOTE
The edges of the clips can be sharp. Thermoline recommends using protective gloves while adjusting or moving the clips (e.g. leather gloves).
Loading Guidelines
All Envirotherm cabinets require continuous airflow throughout the cabinet to maintain the desired temperature and humidity.
Loading Requirements:
-
Even Distribution:
Spread the load evenly across all shelves rather than stacking items on a single shelf. This ensures unobstructed airflow throughout the chamber. -
Ventilation Clearance:
Do not block the air vents located in the rear panel to maintain proper airflow. -
Avoid Floor Loading:
Do not place samples directly on the floor of the cabinet. -
Spacing:
Leave at least 50mm space between the samples and the walls when using open wire shelves to ensure adequate airflow
Port Hole
The cabinet is equipped with a 54mm port hole, sealed with a removable plug. To remove the plug, simply pull it out. Keep it in a safe place in case the port hole needs to be closed again.
Push-Fit Pneumatic Fittings
Thermoline uses nickel plated brass push-fit fittings for water inlet connections on the Envirotherm cabinets. There are also on the optional CO2 inlet. To use the fitting, push the 6mm hose of fitting into the push-fit connector. To release, push the outer ring in and pull the hose or fitting out.
Water Filter
A water supply is necessary for the humidity trough inside the cabinet. This can be sourced from either mains water or a water reservoir that pumps water to the cabinet. In both cases, the water passes through a pressure regulator to reduce pressure below 14 psi. Exceeding this pressure may damage the water control system for the humidifier.
NOTE: DO NOT USE DEIONISED WATER.
Attaching Water Filter
The water filter pack is supplied separately to prevent damage during transport.
- On the back of the cabinet, two protruding screws (Fig. 1) align with keyholes on the top of the filter housing (Fig. 2). Fit the filter pack onto these screws and hang it in place. Do not tighten the screws after fitting.
- Once the filter pack is secured, connect the water inlet to the cabinet using the push-fit connector.
NOTE
Do not connect water direct to the water inlet without passing through the filter/pressure regulator as it will damage the cabinet.
Connecting mains water or water with similar pressure:
- Locate the mains water connector (Fig. 5) inside the cabinet upon delivery. Insert the mains water connector into the water pressure regulator (Fig. 6 & 7).
NOTE
- Thermoline recommends using water that meets the parameters outlined in the water quality section under the Getting Started page.
- Make sure that the pressure does not exceed 60psi (+/-7psi) (400kpa, +/-50kpa).
- When using a continuous mains water supply, the drain outlet must be connected to a suitable waste point. Failure to do so could result in flooding.
Alternate Water Supplies
55 Litre Water Container:
- The water container is placed at floor level and will pump water to the cabinet as needed, supplying water at 50 psi (3.5 bar, 350 kPa).
- An audible low-water alarm will be triggered to alert you when the container needs to be refilled.
- Thermoline recommends connecting the cabinet drain to a floor drain or pump arrangement when using the 55-litre water container.
NOTE: DO NOT USE DEIONISED WATER
Water Pressure Regulator
Located with the Water Filter Assembly, the Water Pressure Regulator can be adjusted to stop the float switch from "bouncing" and also shut off the water supply to the cabinet.
Adjusting the Water Pressure (if required):
To adjust the water pressure regulator, pull the knob outwards (Fig. 1). You should feel and hear a click as it comes out. Twist the knob clockwise to increase the pressure or anti-clockwise to decrease it, depending on the required adjustment (Fig. 2 & 3).
Optional CO2
- When fitted, the CO2 fitting will be located at the rear of the cabinet as shown. A hose barb fitting adapter is also supplied.
- Connect a regulated CO2 supply to this point, set to a maximum pressure of 125 kPa (+/- 25 kPa).
- Ensure the CO2 supply is connected securely to prevent leaks, using a hose clamp if necessary.
- Refer to the STAR X operating guidelines for instructions on controlling the CO2.
Note: Do not adjust the regulator; it is preset at the factory.
Please note, the maximum temperature is +60°C when using the CO2 sensor within the cabinet. The sensor is not rated for temperatures above +60°C. The sensor can be easily unplugged and removed, allowing the Envirotherm cabinet to reach its usual maximum temperature of 120°C.
SETUP WARNINGS
- Castors can be fixed in place by pressing down on the brake lever. Ensure all castors are locked to prevent unwanted movement of the cabinet.
- The cabinet must be rolled on a flat, even surface. Uneven surfaces can cause the cabinet to tip over, potentially damaging the product.
- Ensure the feed water is suitable for the cabinet to maintain proper operation.
- Failure to adhere to these requirements may result in improper ventilation and could void the manufacturing warranty.
- The packaging supplied with the cabinets may have sharp edges that can cause injury. Exercise caution when removing the crate or using knives to cut tape and cardboard.
BMS Output
The Envirotherm cabinet can be fitted with an optional 3-pin socket for connection to a building monitoring system or phone dialler. A separate plug is also provided for connecting the socket to your system.
For detailed instructions on the BMS output, refer to the BMS Manual.
