Location

  • Ensure the water bath is placed on a level surface, with the mains plug and switch easily accessible.
  • While ventilation is not strictly required, Thermoline recommends maintaining 100mm of clearance on the sides and back to aid with accessibility.

Installation

Installation of Water BathThe water bath has three main components: the bath, the lid, and the base tray. The base tray fits into the bath with the feet facing downward, creating a gap between the bottom of the tank and the tray. The purpose of this tray is to prevent anything placed in the bath from coming into direct contact with the floor. The heater is located directly under the tank's floor and may become hot to the touch.

For optimum temperature stability, ensure the base tray and sample container do not touch the sides of the chamber during operation.

The lid should only be lifted by the handle, as other parts may become hot during use. It features a vent/thermometer hole, which must not be sealed, as pressure could build up inside the bath.

Filling the Water Bath

Water FIllingEnsure the bath is filled to at least 50mm above the base tray. Thermoline recommends a maximum fill level of approximately 30mm from the top of the bath, which can be identified by the lip at the top.

When filling, consider the volume of the samples being placed in the bath to ensure their displacement does not cause an overflow.

Notes:

  • Ensure the water used meets the water quality parameters listed.
  • Never fill the bath with oil. The introduction of oil will result in pyrolysis (chemical decomposition by heat).
  • The water in the bath, as well as the bath itself—including the lid—can become very hot during operation.
