Why has the refrigeration stopped working?

Thermoline provides refrigeration safety pressure switches in some of its products such as TCP cold plates, TRH Humiditherm cabinets, TEC Envirotherm cabinets, and TWBRC water baths as a part of the refrigeration system.

What it is and what causes it:
The Refrigeration Safety Pressure Switch is situated either at the back of the TCP and TWBRC baths or on the top left side for the TRH or TEC cabinets. Its function is to protect the compressor from failure by shutting down the refrigeration system automatically if the high side pressure of the refrigeration system exceeds 2450kpa. It's important to remember that the switch may unintentionally trip during transportation and may need resetting before initial use. Other factors that can cause the switch to trip include a malfunctioning condenser fan and high ambient temperature.

What happens when it trips:
The equipment will still run (the controller, fans, lights etc), but you won't get any cooling. In
a TRH or TEC cabinet, this can sometimes show as high humidity if you are running at ambient
conditions. Baths and cold plates will lose the ability to cool.

What to do:
If this occurs on first start up, it has likely tripped during transport. You can simply press the
red button (you should feel a click).
If this occurs due to high temperature during operation, you will need to allow the pressure to
drop below 1800kpa (around 30°C) before resetting. This may take up to 30 minutes. During that
time, please ensure the condenser is free of dust, there are no blockages to fresh air, and other
equipment is not blowing hot air onto the equipment. Please also note the ambient conditions, as
it may be too hot to run the equipment.

If, after resetting the switch and dealing with any ambient conditions or blockages, the switch
trips more than twice again, please contact Thermoline's service team at service@thermoline.com.au .

Please note: Some models may have the reset switch on the inside of the enclosed area. This will require turning off the power and having a qualified technician perform the reset.
