Manual Reset Safety Thermostat
This article provides a guide for using the over-temperature safety thermostat on specific cabinet models. It explains the steps to safely reset the thermostat after an over-temperature event.
The Manual Reset Safety Thermostat is a built-in safety feature designed to prevent overheating. This thermostat is not adjustable by the operator and is set to activate if the cabinet’s temperature exceeds a safe limit. When triggered, it automatically cuts off power to the heating elements, isolating them to prevent further temperature increase.
This feature is particularly important for situations where there may be limited or no airflow within the cabinet. Such cases can arise if air circulation fans fail or if the cabinet is overfilled, blocking proper airflow. By disconnecting the heating elements, the thermostat helps protect the equipment and contents from potential damage due to excessive heat.
To restore normal operation, the thermostat must be manually reset after the temperature returns to a safe level and any issues affecting airflow or overheating have been resolved.
Resetting the Over-Temperature Safety Thermostat
-
Cool Down: Allow the cabinet to cool down before attempting to reset the thermostat.
-
Locate the Safety Reset:
- The reset knob is at the back or side of the cabinet.
-
- The reset currently has a black knob but has been red in older models.
-
Turn the Knob: Once the cabinet has cooled, turn the covering knob counterclockwise to remove it.
-
Press the Reset Button: After removing the knob, press the red button firmly until you feel a “click.” This action restarts the circulating fan and powers on the digital display.
Note: This reset will allow the heaters to operate again. If the thermostat continues to trip, contact a qualified service technician to investigate possible causes of the issue.
