General Cleaning Instructions

  • Interior, Exterior, and Door Gasket: Clean with a soft cloth and soapy water as needed. Avoid abrasive cleaners or scouring pads, as they may scratch the surface and cause corrosion. Do not use caustic cleaning agents.

  • Electrical Components: Do not expose any electrical parts to moisture.

  • General inspection of the freezer should be conducted at regular intervals, typically every six months, depending on usage and environmental factors. The following tasks should be performed:
    • Inspect and clean the freezer.
    • Check the door gasket for damage, such as splits, tears, or areas where it is not sealing properly against the freezer frame when closed. If replacement is needed, contact Thermoline Scientific.
    • Ensure the door self-closes when opened to a 90° angle.
    • The condenser is embedded within the walls of the freezer and is not accessible, so cleaning is not required.

Door Gasket Maintenance

The door gasket should be cleaned regularly with a mild soap solution. Regular inspection is recommended. If the gasket needs replacement, please contact Thermoline for assistance.

Freezer Defrost

Since the freezer does not have an automatic defrost function, periodic manual defrosting is required. During this process, you must also inspect and clean the unit.

  1. Relocate all samples to an alternative storage area.
  2. Turn off and unplug the freezer.
  3. Allow frost buildup to melt, using towels or similar materials to absorb excess water.
  4. Clean, inspect, and dry the interior thoroughly.
  5. Once the interior is completely dry, plug the freezer back in, turn it on, and close the door.
  6. Wait for the freezer to return to its operating temperature before replacing the samples.
